I'll be the first one to admit that I NEVER dreamed I would start a homeschool YouTube channel.
I never wanted to. I have always been perfectly happy writing blog posts and creating Online Unit Studies and homeschool printables and the like. You know, staying more “behind the scenes”.
My husband, though, just KNEW somehow that it would be something I would love to do. And you know what?
Once I learned a little bit about video editing and how everything worked, it did begin to fuel a new creative side to me that really surprised me!
And what surprised me even more is how interested my kids became.
And as I showed them the ropes, taught them the basics of video editing and what actually goes into running a YouTube channel, I realized just how much they were learning (and having fun doing it!).

For us homeschooling families, it can also be a powerful tool for hands-on learning, helping kids develop real-world skills in a fun and engaging way. From creativity and technical know-how to communication and problem-solving, running a YouTube channel offers valuable life lessons that extend far beyond the screen!
So, here are some of my thoughts on what makes YouTube (and the project of working on a YouTube channel) so valuable for us parents, and how we can turn video content creation into a meaningful part of our child’s education.
