Tips for Finding the Best Prime Day Deals

I know that techie homeschool moms love to shop online for the best deals for your home and homeschool. And chances are you shop at the biggest online retailer out there.. But, do you know how to make the most of Amazon’s biggest shopping day of the year? Are you good at finding the best Prime Day Deals?

On July 16 at 3 pm EST, Amazon's 2018 Prime Day kicks off. This is a one (and a half) day shopping event with thousands of deals available exclusively to Prime members. Amazon releases different deals throughout the day, with many selling out quickly.  It’s important to know how to make the most of the sale before it ends at midnight on July 17.

And I’m here to help you get the best bang for your buck, starting now before the sale even begins.

How to Save Before Prime Day Even Starts

First off, if you’re not already a Prime member, now’s the time to get your 30-day free trial HERE. Not sure why you need one? Read THIS POST to learn why every homeschooling family should get Amazon Prime.

Then you can start snatching the Prime Day Countdown deals for Prime members listed below.

Next, find items you are interested in and add them to your wish list. Chances are Amazon products will be on sale (that's how it's been in the past), so go ahead and add that Echo and Kindle you want to your wish list. This is also a great time to clean-up your wish list and take off all those toys your kids have added to them over the years.

Also, search by “Sneak Peak” in the Amazon app to discover some of the items planned for Prime Day discounts. Add those to your wish list.

Then, turn on “Personalized Notifications” on the Amazon app. This way, you'll know when your wish list items go on sale during Prime Day. You can learn how to do HERE.

Tips for Getting the Best Deals During Prime Days

Amazon releases the thousands of deals all throughout Prime Day, many of them selling out quickly. You have the choice to be staring at your computer all day or to be OK with maybe missing something. I recommend the latter. Don't get sucked into FOMO (“fear of missing out”) mode. If you can't get it for a deal, maybe you're just not meant to have it. Be OK with that.

That's where planning ahead comes in to play. If you've added items to your wishlist and have those notifications turned on, you'll be pinged when the deal goes live.

Also, know that on Prime Day, you will get a preview of deals to come throughout the day(s). Be sure to select the “Watch This” button to know when the discount is live.

I also recommend that you make a list of types of items you want in a note-keeping app. For example, my list will include “robotics kit”, “gel pens”. “Chromebook” and “iPad”. Then, you can visit Amazon multiple times during Prime Day and search for those items to see if they've been discounted. And be careful not to get sucked into the vortex of looking for items you really don't need.
